Tools built for how you work

Finding the right image for a book cover is a specific kind of search. It's not about browsing. It's about knowing what you're looking for, or sometimes not yet knowing, and needing a system that's fast,

intuitive and built around the way creative professionals actually think. The tools below are designed to make that process as efficient as possible, whether you're searching independently or working with

your account manager on a live brief.

Natural Language search

Describe what you're looking for in plain language and the search engine does the rest. Rather than hunting for the right combination of keywords, you can search the way you'd describe an image to a colleague: "melancholy coastal landscape, overcast light, cinematic" returns results based on meaning and visual context, not just tagged terms. It's particularly effective for mood, atmosphere and concept-driven searches

where traditional keywords fall short.

Traditional keyword search

For searches where precision matters, traditional keyword and metadata search gives you granular control. Filter by subject, colour, orientation, format, contributor, and a range of other attributes to narrow results quickly and accurately. Boolean logic lets you combine and exclude terms for complex queries. Both search modes are available simultaneously, so you can move between them depending on how your brief is defined.

Abobe Integrations

The Arcangel collection is accessible directly within Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, without leaving your working environment. Search, preview and place images from the collection into your project in progress, streamlining the process from image selection to design.

Cover brief upload function

For larger or more complex projects, the Brief Upload function lets you submit a detailed brief directly through the site. It's designed for book series, multi-title projects or any brief where volume, consistency and image continuity matter as much as individual image quality. Submissions are routed to your account manager, who combines picture research across the existing collection with a LiveSearch call-out to contributors, maximising the range of options available to you.
